Co-developed by SanDisk, Toshiba, and Matsushita Electric, the Secure Digital memory card has apparently surpassed the far older Compact Flash memory card standard according to research by The NPD Group. The SD card captured 30 percent of the retail market for flash memory, while CF captured 28.8 percent, according to a Panasonic press release.
