AcidImage 2.5

Fast image viewer gets new options

by Shawn Barnett

Posted May 23, 2003

The already fast and convenient AcidImage recently got an update, and it's good enough that I couldn't help mentioning it again. If you don't know about it, AI is a powerful image viewing app that makes most of the others look dog slow. This version takes advantage of the ARM processor, running natively instead of in emulation, resulting in faster JPEG decompression. Zoom is from 5% to 1600%, and either fit to screen or 100% pixel to pixel are just a tap away. My favorite new feature is the new thumbnail view. The original thumbnail view had them down the left side with titles on the right, but this is far more useful for me, more quickly getting me the image I need. You can view JPEGs, BMPs, GIFs, Picture Gear Pocket, MGI PhotoSuite Mobile, and SplashPhoto images. Very cool software that can handle images straight from a digital camera, unlike others that require a conduit on the PC. US$29.95
