miniMusic

Compose music on your Palm

The 5th Wall has brought to the Palm the first fully complete MIDI music sequencing and editing application. When we say complete, we mean it. You will find the displays and entry systems you're familiar with from your desktop MIDI sequencing and editing and editing package-only in a far more compact package!

There are four main 'views' in miniMusic. The Library view displays the available MIDI music pieces that are loaded and allows you to select any one of them. The Score view displays the familiar staff of all music notation where you can enter and edit your notes. The Piano view allows you to tap out your notes on a piano-style keyboard display with a staff (for reference only) displayed above. The Grid view provides you a simple grid entry system that doesn't even require knowledge of music composition beyond a good ear!

You can connect a MIDI device that supports the 'To Host' port using the Macintosh hotsync pack. In this manner you can directly control a MIDI device using miniMusic. 5th Wall also has a resources page on their website that leads you to some designs for hardware that you might build yourself.

The miniMusic application can also play back simple scores (single notes at a time - no complex harmonies at this time) on the Palm itself. Future enhancements promised for miniMusic include the ability to write four separate voices, play four voices with MIDI, triplets, beaming a conduit to directly share MIDI files between miniMusic and your desktop and more.

You can find miniMusic on 5th Wall's web site at http://www.5thwall.com and purchase it through PalmCentral.com or PalmGearHQ.com. miniMusic is shareware and is priced at $29.95. -
