Pen Computing Magazine's coverage of the
General Magic "Making the Net Work" Conference

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - General Magic made a mad rush to disclose all of their announcements amidst the special effects and glamor of the company's first Internet-weighted press conference. And the excitement wasn't only coming from GM; many developers and onlookers shared the company's enthusiasm and vision on "Making the Net Work". Here is a short summary of the most newsworthy announcements:
General Magic announces immediate availability of
Presto!Mail v1.5 and Presto!Links v1.0

The long awaited POP3 mail client and world wide web browser for Magic Cap communicators has arrived. General Magic announced the immediate shipping of Presto!Links and Presto!Mail v1.5. Owners of Presto!Mail v1.0 will receive a notice in the mail in the next two weeks, and receive the suite free of charge. The Presto!Mail/Presto!Links suite is available for $49.95 by calling 1-888-CONJURE (1-888-266-5873).

General Magic annonunces Tabriz(tm) AgentWare and Tabriz(tm) Agent Tools

After changing Active Web Tools to Tabriz(tm) Agent Tools, General Magic adds AgentWare to it's arsenal of web weapons. And for 90 days, the $4,995 Tabriz AgentWare package is available for free by visiting General Magic's web or calling 1-888-CONJURE (1-888-266-5873).
General Magic acquires NT developer to expand availability of their Tabriz Agentware.

Looking to add windows developer's to it's troop of GM faithful, General Magic purchased Conterra Software, Inc., a South Carolina development company focused on Microsoft NT Internet and Intranet products. The announcement comes with a purpose and a timeline; General Magic expects to have a beta of the NT version available by Fall of this year.
Magic Cap for Windows to include Microsoft Explorer and America Online Clients

General Magic announced agreements with Microsoft and America Online to include clients in their new Magic Cap for Windows program. Available later this year, Magic Cap for Windows will include the Microsoft Internet Explorer and an America Online client.
GDT Softworks displays PersonalView

GDT Softworks, maker of Personal Print, the printer connection cable for magic Cap devices, was present and displaying Personal View, a VGA display adapter for Magic Cap devices. It connects Magic Cap devices to VGA monitors allowing full screen display.
Sony New Technologies releases Magic Broker

Sony New Technologies released Magic Broker. This stock trading/tracking program for the Magic Cap PIC is a new and portable way to manage your investments. For more information, visit Sony's web site dedicated to Magic Broker.
