Panasonic announced the Toughbook 01 ruggedized handheld computer. The new model is based on Windows CE 3.0, has a 206MHz StrongARM processor, a reflective color LCD, 32MB of FlashROM and 32MB of SDRAM. In addition to cursor control buttons and a touchscreen, the 01 has a RIM-style mini-keyboard. A 1.4aH Li-Ion battery provides 8 hours of operation with the sidelight on. The device can be purchased with a variety of internal wireless options. Estimated street price is US#999.
