Pointer Products has released a new low cost mobile protective slim case with interior foam cushioning for small devices (handhelds, drives, etc.) called "DoubleCLIC."
USA Today is reporting that Verizon Wireless is now offering Kyocera Smartphone for Palm OS (US$499, 7.3-ounces) that includes a mobile Internet browser.
SYWARE's mEnable wireless software architecture allows mobile Windows CE based users connected to TCP/IP networks (wireless RF, broadband, Bluetooth, etc.) to gain access to backend Enterprise solutions written in C++ or Visual Basic programming languages linked via ODBC to databases like: Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Microsoft Access, and/or Sybase. A 10-runtime license with software developer kit (SDK) is US$499, and a 100 runtime license with SDK is US$1999.
Palm has announced that they have reduced the price for a Palm VIIx wireless handheld to US$399, and will offer a US$100 rebate to users who sign-up for a year of Palm.net wireless services.
The computer network security firm @Stake has recently posted a new advisory entitled "Palm OS Password Lockout Bypass - Passwords and data can easily be obtained through a backdoor in Palm OS, even if the device is locked". There is more online coverage about this topic at CNET.
Cingular Interactive's Cingular Interactive Intelligent Wireless Network is reporting that their system continued operations in the Pacific Northwest regions during and immediately after the recent 6.8 earthquake centered in the Seattle area. According to the press release, there was a 25% increase in usage immediately following the quake, and over 10,000 users in the area were able to use Cingular services -- including RIM BlackBerry 950 Wireless Handheld devices and Palm VII devices.
