eWeek examines the operating system powering the new 3Com Audrey network appliance -- QNX Neutrino. Their are rumors that QNX has alliances in the works with Palm and Cisco Systems.

Novatel Wireless is now shipping their CDPD-savvy Minstrel S wireless modem (US$369, 19.2-Kbps, 4-oz., rechargeable Lithium Ion battery) for Handspring's Visor devices using the Springboard slot. The modems will ship with bundled software from JP Systems, AvantGo, and Eudora.

Thinque has announced a new partnership with Keane Consulting Group (800-75-KEANE) to offer a wide-range of consulting services to mobile enterprise integration initiatives (in-house or 3rd party) related to field force automation.

PhatWare NetProfile 2000 is now shipping for Windows 2000, and enables mobile users to create multiple network profiles for different network adapters. There are also versions that support Windows 95/98 and Windows CE. Pricing starts at US$15, and a 15-day demo is available for download & testing.

Kodak's PalmPix digital camera works with Palm V/Vx handhelds using a "Dock V adapter," and offers 24-bit color VGA picture capture plus 2x digital zoom.

Noetix Corporation and AvantGo have announced a new technology alliance to deliver corporate database information to mobile users using automated software solutions.
