Infinite Mobility and the professional basketball team Los Angeles Lakers have announced a new PocketPC-based scouting solution called "Pocket Hoops" that the Lakers are using for the 2000-2001 basketball season to track: stats, charts, ratings, notes, and voice recording data.

Yahoo has announced plans to team with Motient to begin to offer mobile applications like instant messaging and PIM functionality via Research in Motion's handheld BlackBerry device.

TipWorld has a daily email messaging service entitled "Mobile Computing Tips" that has recently had news about GeoDiscovery's GPS Springboard module for HandSpring Visor, and Deskfree's early Palm OS memory fragment utility called "Recycle."

Tantivy Communications offers a wide-range of broadband portable wireless solutions that support 368-Kbps peak speed communications and 246-Kbps "grade" services. Their products also interface to CDMA, GSM, or TDMA PCS cellular technologies.

ThinkingBytes has announced a new developer kit for their thinkDB v2.0 for Palm OS making it significantly easier to build and distribute customized mobile database solutions including plugins that can be accessed from other Palm OS packages.

EPSON Research and Development has announced that the new HandSpring Visor Prism color handheld using the EPSON SED1376 LCD Controller that offers support for up to 65,536 colors and a direct interface to LCD panels.
