UpShot.com offers Web-based sales management services that can synchronize data between Palm handheld devices and desktop PC-based Microsoft Outlook. UpShot.com is using Puma Technologies' "Universal Synchronization Solutions" to enable this service. Pricing starts at US$8 a month.

AEC Software has announced Fast Track Schedule v6.04 for Palm OS (US$99, 30-day demo available for download) that will sync with desktop Macintosh and Windows versions of Fast Track Schedule.

Veritas has announced NetBackup Professional v3.0 (should ship Jun00) that has been designed to provide enterprise backup management solutions to mobile laptops and remote desktop computers. This version supports Windows 2000 Professional and is integrated into Microsoft Windows Explorer. A single VERITAS NetBackup Professional Server supporting five clients starts at US$495 (additional client licenses will be available in 25, 100, 500, and 1000 increments).

IBM is reporting that by the end of 2000 they expect to have a 1-GB Microdrive (current maximum size is 340-MB), and by the end of Summer 2000 they expect to enable boot-up support.

Sterne Stackhouse --a real-time data retrieval company -- has announced the introduction of Pocket-LAB a specialized mobile platform for Executive Information System (EIS) deployments.
