OmniSky has launched their wireless Internet data service that costs $40 a month and $299 for the wireless Palm V modem. The company has also announced new funding and collaboration agreements with News Corporation and PSINet. [SOURCE: PMN News Service]

Clarinet Systems has announced a wireless network access point called EtherIR LAN 101 (US$249, 4-Mbps throughput) that supports Palm OS, Windows CE, Newton (MessagePads and eBooks), PC notebooks, and Internet appliance devices.

Targus and Digital 5 have teamed up to announce a digital voice recorder for Handspring Visor devices called "TOTAL RECALL." The device will come in two configurations: 4-MBs or 8-MBs; and it weighs only 3.5-ounces. Digital 5 will ship the device by Q3'2000, and Targus will sell the device in over 6800 retail stores in the U.S.

SanDisk is reporting that their "IDE Flash Chipset" is being used by Netpliance in their Internet appliance "i-opener."

Scout Electromedia -- the developer of electronic city guides for handhelds -- has announced US$18 million in private funding from idealab!.
