PC Week (and other online news sources) are reporting that Microsoft is considering licensing the use of Windows CE for embedded-devices for free to compete with other free Linux embedded-device savvy releases.

Cisco has purchased a wireless technology company called JetCell for US$200 million in stock. One of JetCell's main technologies enables "wireless voice calls to be routed over IP networks." [SOURCE: Christine Zimmerman, Internet Week]

The Michigan State Palmtop User Group (MSPUG) has announced their new "Palm OS Devices Guide" that attempts to answer questions like: "What Palms are available?" "Which one do you recommend? What should I buy?"

Evan Delay has announced a new "Handheld forum" from UniversalThread that allows for: threaded messages; seeing users currently on-line; member photos; file downloads; industry news; knowledgebase; FAQs; classifieds section for vendors and consultants; chat; and personal message box.

DuPoint Displays has purchased UNIAX Corp. which produces "polymer-OLED (organic light emitting diode) displays" used in many handheld devices.

Thorsten Lange has announced the freeware release of v2.20 of AddressAccess Classic for Newton OS. This package makes it possible to review "relational linked" contacts; and supports both English & German languages.
