Handspring has announced that they will be opening up their European headquarters in the Spring 2000 located in Geneva, Switzerland. They will also establish a logistics & customer support operations unit in the Netherlands; and will have sales and marketing offices established in the United Kingdom and Germany.

Vadem's ParaGraph division has announced the "International" version of Calligrapher v5.3 for Windows CE with support for English, French, and German languages. This natural handwriting recognition package also opens up the new CalliGrapher API that enables developers to use CalliGraphers recognition engine.

Newsbytes has a very interesting article about a new demo being worked on by Schlumberger and Webraska Mobile Technologies that is successfully using WAP-savvy cell-phones and "smart devices" to create an "electronic parking guidance and ticket system" in Paris, France.

iMedica's new PhysicianSuite makes it possible for a physician to securely use a handheld computer to "chart and code" (HCFA/Medicare compliant) a patientās record, along with forwarding capabilities that enable prescription requests to be sent via Internet connections to over 30,000 pharmacies in the United States.

Wind River Systems has acquired AudeSi Technologies -- a developer of embedded Java tools and components that are reportedly ideal for integration into future "multi-application consumer devices."
