Symbian has announced that their United States Developers Conference will be held in Santa Clara, California on 15-17Feb2000. Symbian expects this to be one of their biggest conferences ever held since the number of registered EPOC developers has grown from 1,200 to 20,000 in the last 8 months. Some key technology areas include: WAP, Bluetooth, and Java. Some keynote speakers will come from companies like: ARM, Ericsson, IBM, Intel, Matsushita, Motorola, Nokia, Oracle, Psion, Qualcomm, Sun Microsystems and Sybase.

TealPoint Software has announced a new release of TealNotes for Palm OS v1.07 (US$14). This popular Hackmaster software extension enables "sticky notes" that can include drawings attached to built-in memos, to-dos, datebook entries, etc.

NS Basic is hosting a NS Basic/CE programming contest that ends on 14Feb2000. The winner in the "Best Net Program" category will get a complete copy of devSoft's IP*Works! Internet Toolkit - ActiveX Edition for all processors worth US$3500.

Toyota Motor Corporation has announced plans to offer General Motor's OnStar emergency communications service as an option in the near future in top of the line Toyota vehicles sold in the United States. [SOURCE: Reuters]

osinga.com has released their first series of free city guides for Palm OS and Windows CE handhelds -- Amsterdam, Paris, Florence, and Istanbul. Ultimately, osinga.com hopes to cover nearly all the world's major cities in the year 2000.

Can't wait for Transmeta's Mobile Linux? You might want to check out "Lineo Embedix" for PowerPC and x86 processors based on Caldera Systems' Open Linux. Lineo expects to also add support in the near future for MIPS, Hitachi, and ARM processors.
