MCI WorldCom, which owns UUNet Technologies, has indicated in published reports that their potential "purchase/merger" with Sprint is fundamentally linked to gaining access to Spring's PCS wireless data/voice network. [SOURCE: InfoWorld]

BSQUARE Corp. has announced two new "software service" packages -- Project Planner (US$9,995) and Project Accelerator (US$14,800) -- geared to help developers achieve lower costs and to achieve faster time-to-market releases for Windows CE products.

PC World is reporting that the next-generation BlackBerry handheld pager device is going to come with a web-browser and will be designed in more of a "Palm" form factor.

Gary Thayer at MobileVillage.com is reporting that a recent survey of "corporate IT buyers and solutions providers" has found that 72% of them plan to use Palm OS based devices for mobile technology efforts over the next two years. The same group, also said that Windows CE based solutions was on their "purchase list" 59% of the time -- so multiple handheld operating solutions are in the works.

Semtech's USAR Systems has announced new family of integrated circuits (ICs) called "USAR ScreenCoder II" for doing resistive touch screen and digitizer that is ideal for low-power situations found in many handheld devices.
