Precision Navigation has announced a new "up-to-the-minute weather forecasts" solution called Weatherguide that uses an external 3.2-in by 2.3-in plug-on sensor for Palm III form-factor devices. The cost is under US$80.

According to PC Week all of the following companies are supporting or have announced plans to support the Wireless Markup Language (WML)--AvantGo, Digital Paths, OmniSky, Riverbed, Spyglass, and Wysdom. WML is being "managed" by the WAP Forum. [15Nov99 issue, page 10]

Confinity's PayPal.com is a new "startup" operation geared to enabling Palm OS device users to "beam money back and forth" between other Palm OS users & vendors. A desktop PC version is also available for "online" transactions. Nokia has invested over US$3 million in Confinity in recent months. Windows CE support is reportedly note planned for until late 2000.

The New York TImes is reporting (24Nov99 via NewsScan) that early last week a Bloomingdale's checkout clerk attempted to steal a customer's credit card number using a credit card reader attached to a Palm Pilot handheld.
