Sharp has announced a new version of their Zaurus personal digital assistant (PDA) that they are calling "Eye Getty" that has Internet connectivity capabilities. The new device will ship on 20Mar99 in Japan. [SOURCE: Nikkei English News]
WPI Husky Technology has announced a new ruggedized Windows CE savvy handheld PC (HPC) that they are labeling a "mobile information device." WPI Husky has offices in UK, USA, France, Germany, and Sweden. The company offers many ruggedized handheld and laptop solutions that support other operating systems for the industrial mobile environments.
Puma Technology is now shipping version 3.0 of their "handheld management and synchronization" package called Intellisync for "all" Windows CE devices. The Palm OS version is also available.
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has announced that a new patent has been awarded to Intermec Corporation for a "code reading terminal with integrated vehicular head-up display capabilities" that can also be used in handheld mode when not docked within a vehicle. Intermec has also recently been awarded a US$11 million contract with the nation-wide snack food manufacturer and distributor Lance, Inc. for a new mobile real-time product delivery tracking and monitoring system.
Footprint Software (based in Germany) has announced a Windows CE savvy "outlining" tool called "Outliner." [SOURCE: Scripting]
Motorola has announced the "L7089" handset--"the world's first tri-band GSM digital phone for the 900, 1800, and 1900MHz (roaming in the U.S.) frequencies."
