Brooke Crothers at CNET's News.com covers the 10Mar99 news that Microsoft's Bill Gates announced (while visiting China) major plans for Windows CE in the Chinese marketplace in an article entitled "Gates pushes TV computers in China". [SOURCE: Davenetics]

DataViz has announced "Documents To Go" for both the Macintosh and Windows platforms--a US$39 utility package that lets Palm OS users view desktop PC files (like Microsoft Word and Excel) on their Palm OS devices.

PC World has a detailed article entitled "WINDOWS CE UTILITY: 12 FOR THE ROAD--bSQUARE's useful Utilities Pak helps optimize performance, manage data, and back up handheld PCs."

IBC Global Conferences and ARC have teamed up to offer "Mobile Handsets 1999" (5th Annual Forum and Conference) on 05-07May99 at the Cafe Royal in London, United Kingdom. This event will have two potentially interesting panel discussions: Ericsson vs. Qualcomm and Microsoft vs. Symbian. The day before the above conference starts there with be a "developer" workshop entitled "Developing Third Generation Handsets."

Audible Inc. announced that Microsoft has made an US$11 million investment in the company. Along with Audible's support for the Diamond Multimedia Rio PMP300 audio player, the company is working closely with Microsoft to enable Audible's AudiblePlayer software for Windows CE-based Palm-size PCs, allowing users of these products to access, download, and play back any of the audio available on demand or by subscription at Audible.com.

ZDNET's PalmPilot Express newsletter published (09Mar99) by ZDNET's PalmPilotSoftware.com has pointers to "financial stock" solutions for all Palm OS devices, along with links to a host of older programs that support the original crop of Palm OS devices. This issue also covers the following recently updated Palm OS applications: "Mobile DB Converter, Seahorse Game Pack, JFile, Memo PLUS, and Padlock Plus."
