Psion has stated that their profits for the near term may be below market expectations because of costs associated with Symbian--but the joint venture with Motorola, Ericsson, and Nokia "should be" profitable according to Psion within three years. A Motorola executive was quoted recently by Reuters as saying that Symbian would be announcing "new partners soon."
SanDisk has announced that they will be supplying Compaq with 20MB and 40MB CompactFlash (CF) memory cards as removable storage for the new Compaq Aero 2100 Color Palm-size PC (US$449). In related news, Compaq Computer has announced that the Aero 2100 Color Palm-size PC uses an "new advanced reflective TFT display" technology.
MIPS Technologies has announced an expansion of their "MIPS Windows CE Development Alliance" to now include: Integrated Device Technologies , LSI Logic, and Quantum Effect Design.
Chip Weinert notes the launching of the new "one-stop shopping center for accessories for the Royal daVinci PDA" called "daVinciWorld.com". The site is run by CompanionLink Software and will offer Royal daVinci units (handheld devices for under US$100) and daVinci Software Developer's Kits (SDK).
3Com's Palm MacPac version 2.0 for Macintosh includes a host of new features, including expanded printing options (i.e. mailing labels), Palm Expense synchronization (from Shana Corporation), and a demo Palm Mail conduit (from Qualcomm's Eudora). Jean-Louis Villecroze has announced the release of Version R19 of NewtProlog Beta. There is also a link to some new Prolog example code called "Prolog Code" at the site.
