Simba Technologies has announced plans to bring their suite of Windows CE data access software developer kits (SDK) to Microsoft's recently announced Global Data Access architecture for the Microsoft Windows CE operating system. This new architecture is expected to bring updated support for ActiveX Data Objects and OLE DB to Windows CE [SOURCE: Business Wire, Internet Week]

Adaptec has announced new Windows CE drivers for their "SlimSCSI 1460 PC Card" that brings SCSI capabilities to not only handheld systems, but also the growing number of network computer solutions that use Windows CE.

Symbol Technologies has announced a new "hotel check-in solution story" that uses their Palm OS based SPT 1740 pocket-sized pen computer, and their Spectrum24 Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) teamed with Comtec Information Systems's Cameo Portable Encoding Printer.

PhatWare has released HPC Translate 1.2 (US$15) for Windows CE Devices (Handheld PC, Palm-Size PC, and Handheld PC Professional Edition) that includes English and Spanish dictionaries (32,000 words, 390-KB). Other plug-in languages that are available for US$9 include: German and French. New features: support for SH-4 CPU, UI enhancements, and bug fixes.

w-Trade has announced that Benson York Group, Firstrade Securities, WinTrade, and Wyse Securities all plan use the w-Trade Wireless Trading System to enable their customers to track the markets and trade from a wide variety of handheld wireless devices.

Motorola has a new "streamlined" version of their "MPC860T PowerQUICC Microprocessor" called the "MPC855T" that brings 10/100 Ethernet to a single PowerPC based microprocessor.
