Andrew Seybold, columnist for Pen Computing Magazine and Editor-in-Chief of Andrew Seybold's Outlook monthly newsletter, is extremely impressed in the latest Outlook issue with the new mobile email device from Research In Motion--the "BlackBerry" wearable--a two-way wireless messaging device. This new device can send/receive email using standard wireless services, and comes with a great deal of potential integration tools and consulting services.

w-Trade Technologies has announced that their w-Trade Wireless Internet Trading System now supports the Nokia 9000il Communicator running on GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) 190MHz wireless networks.

Sun has announced plans to license 3Com's HotSync data synchronization technology used with Palm OS devices, and will port the technology to Java Platform. In edition, Sun will provide users of Sun Solaris with "conduits" that link Palm OS devices to Desktop Mail and Calendar Manager.

Microsoft has announced a new deal to team up with British Telecommunications (BT) to develop a suite of wireless services and technology for mobile devices. The new services will be marketed worldwide by Microsoft and BT, but offered via BT's global communications company called "Concert." Trials are expected to begin in the United Kingdom (UK) during Q2'99, with services being offered around the world in the year 2000. Analysts see this move as Microsoft's first significant attempt to challenge the recently announced Symbian alliance between Psion, Motorola, Ericsson, and Nokia. Power Media has announced two new "classic" games for Palm OS devices: Shanghai Tiles (US$30, matching mahjongg tiles) and yahtChallenge (US$20, a variation of the popular dice rolling game Yahtzee).
