Motorola has announced that their have built a new class of transistors in their "advanced R&D labs" that are 3 to 4 times smaller than currently on the market, and that these new transistors will use "considerably" less power than current technology. The goal according to sources close to the project is to give "desktop PC" computing power to handheld phones. [SOURCES: Wired and San Jose Mercury News (SJMN)]

The Financial Times is reporting that Microsoft is going to join Lucent, Motorola, and 3Com in "supporting" Ericsson's Bluetooth wireless communication technology.

The Stanford PalmPilot User Group (SPUG) meets at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. Their next meeting will be on 07Dec99 (today). Rand McNally has announced StreetFinder Deluxe 2000 Edition (US$35+S&H) with support for Windows PCs and Palm OS devices.

ICL and Fujitsu have teamed up to integrate wireless RF capabilities into Fujitsu's TeamPad 7120 handheld PC.

iambic Software has released a "major upgrade" to their contact manager and scheduler for Palm OS devices called "ActionNames v4.0" (US$20). Current owners can upgrade for free.
