Compaq has announced plans to build a "Windows CE Professional Handheld PC" device that will come with a full-size keyboard and a 11.5-inch LCD screen. The device will be called "Aero Handheld PC Pro" and will have a retail price under US$1000. This device would also reportedly support the new Bluetooth wireless specification. [SOURCE: PC World]

JP Systems is now shipping their interactive communications software package called "BeamLink 2.0 for Palm OS" that lets Palm III, IIIx, and V devices connect wirelessly to IrDA savvy pagers like Glenayre Technologies' AccessLink II pager.

TeleType GPS is reporting that they are now shipping Windows CE solutions that support the StrongARM processor being used in HP's Jornada line of handhelds. They have also released a new "painting" utility package called "TeleType GPS Map Paint" that allows a user to "freehand draw" over Teletype GPS maps.

PlusFactor Software has announced plans for a Palm OS savvy Internet calendar website called "WeSync Communities" that will be available in the Fall 1999 time frame.

Lucent Technologies has announced plans to work with e.Digital to develop "a handheld device for listening to music downloaded from the internet." E.Digital will build the device using Lucent's Enhanced Perceptual Audio Coder (EPAC) and digital signal processors (DSPs) made by Texas Instruments. [SOURCE: United Press International (UPI)]

Roger has several innovative Newton packages available but one of the more interesting ones is an Amiga MOD music format player called "ModPlayer" that you can download via Roger's site.
