This article is a personal account of how Vito uses his Palm Pilot in his daily life. Chris Temple has announced the release of PenRight! MobileBuilder Beta 2 (their next generation development toolkit) that will be shipping by the end of April 1999. The tool makes it possible to build mobile applications for Windows CE, Windows 32-bit, Windows 16-bit, and DOS.
Qualcomm and Microsoft are reportedly working on a new "mobile communications processor" called the "Mobile Station Modem (MSM) 4000" that should make building future wireless Windows CE based devices easier. [Source: San Diego Union Tribune, 31Mar99]
IBC USA Conferences has announced a new conference entitled "Mobile Handset Americas: Developing Handsets to Meet Market Demand" that will be held 21-23Jun99 at the Sheraton Hotel in Palo Alto, California.
JP Systems is reportedly nearly ready to release their "wireless connectivity" solution called "NetCradle" for 3Com Palm III devices (including IBM's WorkPad) that allows these devices to use industry standard wireless Type II PC Cards. [SOURCE: Computer Retail Week]
Jonathan Kipling Knight at Prism Research has announced a free extension to the Newton OS: NewtonGL is a library of 3D graphics routines based on Silicon Graphics' OpenGL standard. Now developers can produce 3D animation to include in their applications. The extension can be downloaded via the URL listed above along with a demonstration program and an SDK.
