Telxon and Alpha-Numeric International's InsideTrak--a end-user shopping mobile data access unit--have been selected as a "Millennium Product Award" by the British Government. And an exhibit highlighting InsideTrak will be included within the "Millennium Dome in London, UK."
Jeffrey Greer notes in a Letter-To-The-Editor article on page 37 of Fast Company published for Oct98 that IS/Complete is offering a "free" IrDA desktop to Palm III sync utility called "IRSync v1.0."
MGM Grand Hotel/Casino ("The City of Entertainment in Las Vegas") has created a new "partnership" with IBM, InfoGenesis, and Symbol to implement "a unique, customer service-driven wireless point-of-sale (POS) application in MGM Grand's retail areas where standard networking poses cabling difficulties."
WEB-VANTAGE's "Weekly Wrap" published on 27Sep98 has a pointer to a recent press release entitled "Sony Plans to Integrate Unwired Planet's Microbrowser into CDMA Handsets".
Sybase and 3Com have announced a "new strategic relationship" to bring together Sybase's Adaptive Server Anywhere & UltraLite technology with 3Com's Palm Computing platform. The companies have also announced the signing of nearly 200 application developers to their new developer program for this initiative that will support the following PalmPilot devices: Palm III, IBM WorkPad, Symbol SPT 1500, and Qualcomm pdQ smartphone.
Sony has announced a new digital voice recorder called the "ICD-70 Voice File Recorder" that can transfer files to desktop/laptop PCs for emailing, and more than likely will have "voice-to-text" conversion using third party technology.
The Internet based personal information manager (PIM) "free" service called "eOrganizer" has reached their first year anniversary in operation. Some recent enhancements include better password management, integrated calendars, help access on all pages, small pop-up calendar on each page, and removal of closed appointments.
