Corsoft has a new enterprise solution called "Aileron v1.0" that provides two-way paging capabilities to Microsoft Exchange messaging servers. A 25-user license will sell for under US$7500. [SOURCE: Inter@ctive Week, 21Sep98, page 28]

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will be hosting a conference entitled "Electronic Book 1998: Turning a New Page in Knowledge Management" that will be held 08-09Oct98 in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Information Week examines "GSM: Worldwide Connection For Mobile Work Force" on page 96 of the issue published on 21Sep98. The article notes two solutions of potential interest: #1. Bosch Telecom's World 718 Multiband Phone (US$299), and #2. Option International's 33.6-Kbps GSM PC Card Modem (US$250).

Alan Kay has a major handheld specific article that starts on page 78 of The Second Annual Handset Technology Conference is being held on 06-08Oct98 at the Westin Hotel in Santa Clara, California. The conference fee is US$1495, and there will also be pre-and post-conference workshops and briefings that will bump the price up to US$2095 (four days). The North American GSM Alliance and the Universal Wireless Communications Consortium (UWCC) have announced a new agreement that the two organizations will work together to ensure that all new wireless GSM technologies are made available to U.S. consumers.

New Zealand's Dominion reports on 07Sep98 that Philips has introduced a "voice command savvy" palm-size PC--the Nino 300--in New Zealand in an article entitled "Philips introduces voice control to its handhelds."

Stevens Creek Software is now shipping version 2.0 of PalmPrint for IrDA savvy Palm Pilot devices. The software will let you print PalmPilot "data items"--clipboard, memo, and to-do-list--to many IrDA enabled printers.

Greg Bohlken from Valparaiso, Indiana reports getting a very pleasant surprise when ordering an Apple MP2K Stylus (US$20 + S&H $7) from Small Dog Electronics. Not only did Greg get his MP2K stylus but also five extra MP110 styli and two "cute little plastic dog figurines."

Word on the street is that Steve Weyer has released version 2.0a of Newt's Cape for the Newton--a full featured, shareware Internet browser. This new "stable beta" is available to all registered users. When this version goes "golden", the reported upgrade price will be US$10 for registered v1.3 owners.
