Itron, a major automatic meter reading (AMR) services and equipment company that is focused on the utility industry, has selected Schlumberger to provide Itron with "mobile and handheld meter reading systems."
Alan Yoshioka reports some problems connecting to his new iPass using the "standard settings" that came with his Sharp Mobilon 4100. The tech support folks at iPass were able to come up with a series of workarounds, but Alan would like other Windows CE users to know that you have to expect some workarounds depending on your hardware device.

SAP Canada is working with Intermec Technologies, Norand Mobile Systems, and FinTech Services to market completely integrated hardware and software systems that make mobile solutions possible for SAP Canada customers. In related news, 3Com's Palm Computing is going to team with SAP North American to provide mobile enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to SAP customers.
Lunatech Research has announced the release of LunaSuite Pro 2.1Bc350EN: a set of modular network tools (eMail, a WWW Browser, FTP, and GSM-SMS) for devices running Newton OS 2.1. The list price of LunaSuite Pro is US$69. Lunatech has also recently announced plans for a maintenance release during Q4'98, and during 1999 Lunatech will put the source code to the LunaSuite in the public domain.
