It should be noted that the new LG Electronics "Phenom Express" handheld PC (HPC) that was recently announced is the first announced Windows CE 2.1 device that is formerly referenced using the codename "Jupiter device."

PC World Online is publishing an article entitled "PRINTING AND FAXING COME TO WINDOWS CE: Print and fax from virtually any Windows CE program on both palmtop and handheld PCs."

The Dayton Daily News published on 26Sep98 examines Windows CE based AutoPC potentials in an article entitled "GADGET PATROL--AUTOPC ENTERTAINS, INFORMS, ASSISTS DRIVERS." The article notes that AutoPC supports Universal Serial Bus (USB), and that a host of companies are planning on introducing AutoPC solutions including Clarion, Citroen, Ford (maybe), Alpine, Harmon Kardon, Daewoo, Hyundai, and Samsung.

Puma Technology is now shipping Intellisync for Windows CE v2.1 (US$69.95 new, US$34.95 upgrade) that includes support for Lotus Notes 4.5/4.6 users.

Craig Crossman at The Miami Herald answers a reader's question about Philips' new Lotus has announced a server based solution called "Wireless Domino Access" that will link 3Com Palm Pilot devices (including IBM WorkPad and Palm III) to existing Domino-based Notes Mail, Directory, and Calendar services using Novatel Wireless' Minstrel Wireless IP Modem and Unwired Planet's microbrowser technology. The solution will retail via Lotus Business Partners for US$3000 and include Lotus Pager Gateway Release 2.03. Motorola CIG's Wireless Access Systems Division has announced plans to offer in the future a plain paper fax machine system based product that will use CDMA (code division multiple access) WiLL (wireless local loop) terminals.
