Reuters (http://www.reuters.com) has teamed with Aether Technologies to offer a new service called "MarketClip" that provides real-time wireless financial market data to HP 360LX palmtops running Windows CE, and also to PalmPilot devices. Microsoft has announced plans to incorporate Systems Management Server 2.0 client features into Windows CE by the end of 1998. When SMS 2.0 ships for Windows CE there will also be a "pocket" version of Access also available for Windows CE devices. [John Spooner, PC Week, 22Jun98, page 26]

Alan Horowitz has a major article entitled "PalmPilots Break Out: Users turn to PDAs to increase business efficiency, not just to keep appointments" in Information Week (http://www.informationweek.com) published on 15Jun98 (pages 149 - 152]. The article notes that according to DataQuest some 1.018 million PalmPilot devices were sold worldwide in 1997.

Adam Tow (atow@tow.com) has announced the release of Area Code Change 2.0 for the Newton by Foundation Systems (http://www.tow.com/). This new version includes "major interface and functionality improvements." Paradigm4 (http://www.paradigm4.com) has deployed a wireless mobile data system for the Perth Amboy, New Jersey, Police Department. The system links the department's 120 officers to not only their own database systems but also New Jersey's State Criminal Information Center (SCIC) and NCIC (National Criminal Information Center). The system is using Dell Latitude laptops and Sierra Wireless MP 200 modems in the patrol cars, a Dell NT PowerEdge server at the department headquarters, and wireless service from Bell Atlantic AirBridge (CDPD) network.
