Sybase is reporting that their "UltraLite" mobile database technology is being used for linking mobile devices to enterprise database applications at Korea's Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, Motorola, and at JTEL.

WINDOWS CE UPGRADES! NEC's Computer Systems Division has announced a Windows CE 2.1 upgrade ROM kit (do it yourself) for their MobilePro 750 HPC users. LG Electronics has also announced a similar upgrade program for their Phenom Express devices.

Visto Corporation has announced plans to offer future corporate Palm VII users access to their corporate LAN email services like Lotus Notes, CC Mail, Microsoft Exchange, or POP 3 servers behind a corporate firewall. The solution will also provide intranet/Internet connectivity while at work and also at home.

Business Wire is reporting that Windows CE developer Eclipse International has secured US$14 million in first round Venture Capital (VC) financing from a consortium of VC organizations

Atlantic International Entertainment (AIE), a casino gaming industry company, has announced anticipation of US$7 million in sales during 1999 in the wireless handheld computers market for their business area. And IT marketing information provider INTELECT ASW (a joint venture between NPD Group, GfK AG, and Audits and Surveys Worldwide) is reporting that Windows CE devices accounted for 25% of all handheld retail sales in Q3'98.
