Tip of the Day

The Cassiopeia E10, comes with the Digital Camera Viewer to display .cam (Casio Camera) or .jpg files. However, the program cannot display proper dithering of a standard jpeg image. Thankfully, there are some little tricks that can make your photos display properly. Get an image editing program such as shareware Paintshop Pro (www.jasc.com) and follow these steps,

(1) Open your image file in Paintshop Pro.

(2) Select Grey Scale from Color menu to change the image to grey scale.

(3) In the Color menu, Increase Color Depth, and change it to 16 million colors (24 bit)

(4) Finally, convert your image to 4 colors by selecting Color menu, Decrease Color Depth, X Color (4/8 bit). In the dialog box, make sure you enter "4" in number of color box and check Error Difffusion and Reduce Color Bleeding.

(5) Save your image as JPG format. Paintshop Pro will prompt you to for converting your image to a proper color depth for JPG format. Click OK to continue.

Now you can transfer your image files to your PPC using Windows CE services and view these photos using Casio Viewer. This procedure make use of PPC's 4 level grey display to display photographs. You can also resize or crop your image to width 224 which is the width of the Casio viewer display width. However, if you still find your pictures look strange (not enough contrast), you can try to convert the image to 2 color (b/w). For some pictures, 2 colors black and white looks better than 4 level grey scale. Make sure Error Diffusion is checked before conversion.
